Nepal's cricket team is gearing up to compete in the group stage of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, from September 23 to October 8. Originally, Nepal was scheduled to play against Japan and Cambodia, but due to Bahrain's withdrawal from the competition, the schedule had to be rearranged.

Now, Nepal will face Mongolia in their first match on September 27 at the Pingfeng Cricket Field, followed by a match against Maldives on October 1 at the same venue. Afghanistan, the only full-member nation initially in the group stage, has already secured a spot in the quarterfinals.

India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh have also earned direct entries to the quarterfinals, where they will compete against other teams that advance from the first round.

Cricket has been a part of the Asian Games twice before, in 2010 and 2014, but was omitted from the 2018 Jakarta Games. Notably, the matches in this edition of the Asian Games have received international status from the International Cricket Council (ICC). Both men's and women's cricket will be played in the T20 International (T20I) format.

Nepal has already revealed its 15-man squad for the tournament, with Rohit Paudel leading the team. The squad includes players like Aasif Sheikh, Kushal Bhurtel, Kushal Malla, Sandeep Jora, Binod Bhandari, Dipendra Singh Airee, Bibek Yadav, Gulshan Jha, Karan KC, Sompal Kami, Sandeep Lamichhane, Pratish GC, Lalit Rajbanshi, and Avinash Bohara.
